New Orleans Links Fiscal Scans on OST and Opportunity Youth Resources

Community Baptist Ministries, the Cowen Institute and the Forum for Youth Investment have teamed up to explore public investment in young people through out of school time and through resources for older youth who are neither in school nor working.

There are major connections between the two populations. Many of the children and youth that are not engaged in afterschool and expanded learning opportunities are at risk for later disengagement in either school or work as young adults. Underinvestment in either truncates individual futures and diminishes the economic development of the region.

Both reports highlight the magnitude of the need, and both make the case for more and better aligned resources, pointing to the most robust current opportunities for continued investment. Read more here.
